Biography
 

Dr. Kent Michael Shaw I, is a missiologist, pastor, educator, and author whose work focuses on global Christianity, Pentecostal theology, and the history of African American missions. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of The Life Center Community Church, where he provides spiritual leadership while engaging in community development and global missionary initiatives. He is also the founder and director of Kent Michael Shaw Ministries, a nonprofit organization committed to theological education, humanitarian outreach, and medical and social support in underserved regions, particularly in Haiti and across Africa.

Dr. Shaw holds a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, after attending Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned a Master of Arts in Practical Theology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University and a Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies from Columbia International University. His academic training reflects an interdisciplinary engagement with theology, mission studies, and cross-cultural ministry. His research interests include World Christianity, Pentecostalism, Missions Theology, and the historical contributions of Nineteenth-Century African American missionaries to the global expansion of Christianity.

Dr. Shaw is the author of *Missiology Reimagined: The Missions Theology of the Nineteenth-Century African American Missionary*, a work that highlights the theological vision and missionary contributions of African American leaders within the broader history of global missions. The book has received scholarly attention, including a review and recommendation from Christianity Today, and contributes to ongoing discussions in missiology regarding race, theology, and global Christian witness.

In addition to pastoral leadership and writing, Dr. Shaw serves as an adjunct professor at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, and teaches at the Church of God Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries in Makati, Philippines. His teaching focuses on missiology, world Christianity, pastoral theology, and intercultural ministry, equipping students and church leaders to engage faithfully and effectively in diverse global contexts.

Dr. Shaw has been actively involved in global missions for more than three decades. His ministry has extended across the United States, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe, including work in Haiti, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the British Virgin Islands, Ireland, France, Togo, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Honduras, and Botswana. Through preaching, teaching, humanitarian initiatives, and leadership training, he has sought to strengthen churches and develop Christian leaders in a wide range of cultural settings.

Dr. Shaw has been married to Lady Daphane M. Shaw for more than thirty-five years. Together, they have partnered in ministry while raising two children, Bethany Miichere and Kent-Michael.
